It’s safe to say that the groms have got it good these days. You only have to gaze down at those little rippers from the lift, as they boot it along their laps, harder, faster, further, higher and, crucially, way happier than you were at that knee-high height. And whilst we’re not privy to what their parents are feeding them, we can’t ignore the shift that brands have made in creating boards that are springboarding these yoots from wee snowboard-schoolers to the infant elite. Case in point – the Nidecker Micron Sensor.
For the 2020/2021 season, Nidecker have reshaped every single board in their kid’s range in order to incorporate their Sidekick tech. By lifting the edges at the widest point of the nose and tail, Sidekick amplifies the float in powder, smooths out the ride across rougher terrain, and helps initiate turns like it ain’t no thing. Put really simply, it’s all about giving your mini shredder the tools they need grow out of the piste and get out there.
“This doesn’t talk down to the next generation, but instead tells them to go and show the big kids what they can do”
At its core, this is a mini freestyle machine. Dubbed Nidecker’s ‘youth trick master’, this board is fit-to-burst with pop that’s ready to erupt off kickers, and a three-phase camber construction to help stick tricks super easy, whilst a serious dose of flex makes landing comfortable and easy on growing bones.
We’re also big fans of Nidecker opting to use the same extremely tough and high-tech sintered N-7000 base as its older brother and adult counterpart, the Sensor, for and equally as epic carbon nanoparticle-spiked glide and level of performance. This doesn’t talk down to the next generation, but instead tells them to go and show the big kids what they can do.
