Chargers, step forward. Everyone else? Thanks for turning up, we’ll see you again soon, have a safe journey home. Nidecker’s straight-to-the-point, no-timewasters-please Gun is built for one purpose and has got one thing in mind – getting it.

The Gun takes inspiration from the archives (its granddaddy, which Nidecker released back in 1987, was widely received as looking a good 20 years ahead of its time) and mixes it with up-to-date, futuristic tech. But whilst that can be said for quite a bit of what Nidecker’s thrown down onto the table for 2021, what sets the Gun apart is the connection it makes to the art and style of wave riding.

“It opens up the opportunity for long and hungry-for-it turns at terminal velocity”

Forming up a third of Thierry Kunz’s Snow Surf Quiver capsule, the ex-pro turned shaper’s near obsession with the feeling sticking a surfboard rail into a wave at speed has led us to this deadly red shred stick. TK has taken to all kinds of surfboard shaper techniques to birth that beast, but perhaps most importantly he’s crafted the sidewalls just like a shaper would craft the rails of a surfboard, to help get maximum pressure into the edges and recreate the sensation of the perfect bottom turn.

Like a shark’s tooth indiscriminately cutting anything unlucky enough to sit in its path, the Gun’s pointed nose promises power through all kinds of snow, from pow to slush, whilst its Diamond Tail works in total harmony with the R10 Series sidecut, which, at ten metres, opens up the opportunity for long and hungry-for-it turns at terminal velocity.

The combination of the super lightweight core and the creamy-smooth and lightning-quick N-9000 sintered base will really test the strength of your speedometer. If you’re an experienced rider looking to inject a powerful carving machine into your already bursting quiver, then get stuck into one of these. Just send us a postcard from the other side of the sound barrier, yeah?

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

Dave CrozierREAL Snowboarding

“The Nidecker Gun is serious charger for a snowboarder looking for fun and a change up in their arsen. It’s super quick off the mark thanks to the 9900 sintered base and looks incredible.

“As you would imagine it is amazing in powder, the board turns really well and doesn’t feel like a the barrel of a shotgun but more like a revolver packing a big punch”

The Gun looks amazing with its Ash veneer top sheet, which also assists as a natural light weight damper. The first thing you notice when strapping in is how long the nose is. You soon get used to it once you put a few turns in.

As you would imagine it is amazing in powder, the board turns really well and doesn’t feel like the barrel of a shotgun but more like a revolver packing a big punch. Powder slashes on steep terrain can be done with ease as it is so lightweight for a board you would predict to be heavy.

I am a carving addict and I just find this board absolutely perfect for laying down some euro-carves first thing in the morning. I also spent some time riding in spring slush hitting banks and side hits, and loved putting in tight turns and slashing on banks feeling like I was almost on a surfboard with the winter coming to an end.

I enjoyed this board so much I use it daily. Don’t be put off by the wild shape and the Gun like speed it may project, it’s a board for life.”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

“This board is a beast – it’s so awesome.

I think my favourite part of it is the tail; it’s stiff, but it needs to be, as this shape is built for going straight and fast! On piste, fresh groomers were just screaming at me, and even the chewed up crud just got out the way. When I found some softer snow, it was insane. Even in that stuff she just goes, and you don’t even realise.

“This board is very special, and with that topsheet it is a thing of beauty”

You’ve got to plan ahead with this board. I rode the 171, and that nose is crazy. Don’t try and go through too many tight trannies, as she’s good at getting caught up. I took her in the trees and they got a little too tight for her….

This board is very special, and with that topsheet it is a thing of beauty. If you what to chase rhinos down the hill, get it.”
