UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Nidecker The Gun here
This is no Swiss army knife; the Nidecker Gun snowboard is built with only one thing in mind – speed. As well as being huge, it’s got a long sidecut radius, so when you set an edge you will be off to a flier.
Be careful where you point the nose, as it’ll go through just about everything. The rocker up front helps it to forge a path through powder, and the camber section – along with the hard-wearing edges – help it to grip on hard pack.

You can’t expect a board this size to be all that light, but relatively speaking the poplear-and-bamboo core keeps it feeling nimbler than you’d expect. On the top is an ash veneer topsheet, which not only looks great but deals with unwanted vibrations too.
A combination of biax and triax fibreglass dial back the torsional stiffness a little, which is just as well. While too much flexibility on that front would be a disaster, having some play through the waist makes the Nidecker Gun a bit easier to manage.
As a specialist model, we don’t expect to see hundreds of these on the pistes this winter. However, if you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of versatility, get The Gun under your feet and prepare to feel the G’s like never before.
