Who Is The Nidecker Elle For?

First time snowboard purchasers or riders who enjoy a super mellow board which you can just relax on.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

Like most of Nidecker’s all-terrain decks, the Elle is a twin tip shape with a stance that’s set back 10mm. This gives you the versatility to practice riding switch and dial in some tricks (when you’re ready!) but prioritises riding in your normal stance. The sidecut radius is pretty tight, which keeps it feeling nimble even at low speeds.

Looked at from the side, it features a profile they call Freestyle Camrock. The board is flat between the bindings and rises up off the ground as you approach the nose and tail. This combination is very forgiving if you’re a little sloppy with your edge transitions or you land a trick slightly off, and it takes very little effort to engage a turn. The rocker also has the benefit of lifting the nose if you’re lucky enough to score a powder day and want to dive into the sidecountry.

Construction and Materials

The Elle is built around a full poplar core, with beech stringers to add strength. This is wrapped in a biax weave fibreglass topsheet that helps to ensure the overall flex is soft – riders of all standards will have no trouble loading ollies and nose presses (OK, maybe ollies to start with, but we can all dream, right?). An Absorbnid layer uses the same tech found on Nidecker’s high-end models to keep vibrations to a minimum.

The base is extruded, which means it’s not going to be lightning fast but then, if this is your first board, squeezing every last drop out of speed out of a slope is probably not your priority. Instead, it’s a tough surface that doesn’t need to be waxed very often to maintain consistent performance.

Roundup

Nidecker have been making snowboards since before most of us were born. They really know their onions. Although the Elle doesn’t have as many premium materials as their more expensive models, they’ve applied the same care to its construction (including a beautiful translucent topsheet graphic) and ensured that, performance wise, this board will get you progressing as quickly as possible. You’re in safe hands here.
