Why we chose the Mons Royale Neve Insulation Hood Mid Layer: Sustainably and ethically produced, it will keep you warm and dry no matter what.
Over a decade ago, Mons Royale embarked on a journey to create the best Merino Wool base layers for snowboarders and active people alike. After conquering the base layer market, the brand started to produce mid-layers with similar success. The Mons Royale Neve Insulation Hood is a merino wool mix made to not only keep the ladies warm but also comfy up the mountain.
Hailing from a little mountain town in New Zealand (Wanaka), Mons Royale make good products that live up to good sustainable standards. Merino sheep, which live and breathe the fresh local mountain air, are used for their extremely versatile wool. The sheep are treated humanely too (mulesing is a big no-no). These sheep also live free-range lives, so by choosing a Mons Royale Merino Wool product you won’t be harming any of the sheep used in its creation.
“Merino wool is able to hold up to 30% of its own weight when it comes to absorbing water, so you won’t need to worry about getting wet due to sweating”
The Neve Insulation Hood lives up to the same well-known high standards as the rest of the Mons Royale products. 59% wool, 36% polyester, and 5% elastane this mid-layer possesses a handful of unique and versatile qualities.
For the insulation, Mons Royale has used their 80 Merino Wool Insulation, which is 70% merino wool and 30% polyester. Merino wool’s qualities are plentiful, with warmth being just one of them. However, this doesn’t mean you’ll be boiling if the temperature rises while wearing the Neve Insulation mid-layer as Merino Wool is also highly breathable as well.
Merino wool is able to hold up to 30% of its own weight when it comes to absorbing water, so you won’t need to worry about getting wet due to sweating. Whilst being highly breathable, the mid-layer also remains odour resistant. It’s also got a natural UV resistance, meaning you’ll have one less thing to worry about in a worrying world.
