All of Mons Royale’s merino wool is made in partnership with New Zealand’s ZQ Merino, the world’s leading ethical wool brand. They stand for a better quality of life for the animals, the planet, and people. The yarn is spun at Süedwolle and certified with the latest eco certifications including Bluesign and Oeko-Tex standards.

Merino Wool itself, contains natural anti-bacterial properties, meaning you and your base layer are less likely to get smelly even when sweating. Another great quality of merino wool is its moisture-wicking abilities as it can absorb up to 30% of its own weight, so even when sweating it won’t make the base-layer wet.

Thanks to Merino wool’s natural climate control abilities, the Cascade helps to regulate the body temperature by moving moisture away from the body. However, for the base layer to work to its best ability, it needs to be snug. The base layer is designed to move with the body, while being extremely comfortable and not restrictive at all.

When we went out to create a print for our new baselayer, we wanted to create marks using only objects from nature. We experimented with stones, leaves, grass – in the end we used a branch as our paint brush. The result is this print we call Element Camo.”
