Why we chose the Mizu x Jono Wood Bottles: A water bottle that doesn’t just fight one good cause, but two.

By producing reusable water bottles (you don’t have to put water in them) Mizu is fighting the fight against single-use plastic bottles. The brand is known for creating high-quality bottles out of sustainable steel, and are firm believers in a plastic-free future. By being part of the 1% for the planet organisation, it’s clear that Mizu is determined to make change happen.

This season, Mizu has partnered up with Jono Wood to design a collection that’s calling attention to three endangered ocean animals: polar bears, blue whales, and turtles.

“A collection that’s calling attention to three endangered ocean animals”

According to Plastic Oceans, we’re producing more than 300 million tons of plastic every year (of which 50% is single-use purpose). From this 300 million tons of plastic that’s produced, more than 8 million tons of it ends up in the ocean.

By polluting the oceans with plastics, we are endangering the marine life and fish, birds, turtles and marine mammals that live there. They face the risk of becoming either entangled in or ingesting plastic, which can cause them to suffocate, starve, and drown. The more animal species that become endangered, the faster the ecosystem will fall apart as every species is dependent on another one’s existence.

A report by the Guardian also found that approximately one million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute. By choosing to purchase a refillable water bottle instead of always buying a single-use plastic one, you will already be making a big difference (you’ll also, hopefully, inspire others around you to do the same).

Choose from the M5 (530ml) Turtle, the M8 (750ml) Polar Bear, the V6 (650ml) Whale and the V8 (800ml) Polar Bear bottles and do your bit by supporting a company that donates part of their profits to a very good, and very important, cause.
