UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Lobster Sender here

Of all the boards in Lobster’s range, the Lobster Sender stands out as the one for all-round riding that, while mostly conducted far away from the XL booter line, is no less confident and daring.

The Lobster Sender’s most noteworthy characteristic remains the carbon additives in the nose and tail. Running roughly parallel with the centre section of the Triple Base design, they stiffen up each end of the board to deliver explosive ollie power. Whichever direction you point it, the Sender will do just that.

“The Lobster Sender is definitely an all-rounder, and a great one at that”

There’s even more carbon this year, thank to the addition of ‘Super Tubes’ that have been shaped to match the board’s sidecut. These hollowed-out rods sit within the core to further improve the overall pop of the Lobster Sender, as well its as carving performance, and are naturally so light that you won’t otherwise know that they’re there.

The sintered base will whip you along, but it’s also pretty tough so you don’t need to hold back in any way. If you’re not used to Triple Base Technology then you might initially find straightlining at speed a little weird, but get a few runs in and you’ll be laughing.

It won’t be as easy to butter as some of its softer siblings, but with a bit of work you can enjoy catch-free presses all day – and on top of that, 3BT is great in powder. The Lobster Sender is definitely an all-rounder, then, and a great one at that.

Tester’s Verdict

Chris Sturgesssnowfit.co.uk

“While my days of hitting big kickers and launching down handrails are behind me (well they actually passed me by!) I do like to play around on side hits, try flatland tricks and generally just have fun on my snowboard. The Sender allowed me to do just that.

“The flex in the middle allowed me to dick around without ever feeling like the board was about to bite me in the arse”

The extra carbon in the nose and tail kept the board stable at high speed and offered loads of pop when you wanted it, while the flex in the middle allowed me to dick around without ever feeling like the board was about to bite me in the arse.

If it’s an all-mountain freestyle board you are after, then you have to check the Sender out.”
