God bless the guys at Lobster for making the board-choosing process easier than ever. Jib Board, Floater, Sender… clues about where a board’s strengths like are usually right there in the name. Then there’s this one, the Lobster Park Board.

Essentially unchanged from the 2016/17 version (other than being made at a different factory), the latest Lobster Park Board is fully kitted out for sessioning the kickers and rails. It’s got a true twin shape and a mellow camber rise that delivers plenty of pop – plus, like all Lobsters, it features Triple Base Technology.

“The centrebase has a medium width, so it’s fairly stable in the presses whilst still being extra smooth through the turns at any speed”

The Lobster Park Board features the same version of 3BT as you’ll find in the Lobster Halldor Helgason Pro (in fact, it’s the deck he favoured before he slapped his name on one). The centrebase has a medium width, so it’s fairly stable in the presses whilst still being extra smooth through the turns at any speed. There’s no carbon rods or impact plates here; just a simple, solid board that comes in at a great price.

The end-to-end flex is a little stiffer than the likes of the Jib Board, but it’s just as easy-going from edge to edge, making it better suited to all-round park riding. Makes sense, really; it’s the Lobster Park Board!

Tester’s Verdict

Sam McMahon – whitelines.com

“Park by flex, park by 3BT and Park Board by name, this thing really couldn’t be ridden just anywhere could it? Wrong – having owned one of these in the past, I can attest that the latest version rides good over the whole mountain thanks to a medium flex and forgiving triple base.

The combo allows you to ride a board that feels playful to ride around and butter with, but also delivers ladlefuls of pop and stability when required. It works pretty good in pow too.

When placed back on home turf – the park – it manages to step things up a gear further still. The edges hold off take-offs, but melt away on landings giving you an extra inch of safety before you might usually catch an edge. On rails, you again have that extra feeling of forgiveness.

The whole concept comes together and gives you a board that begs to played around on, whether it’s bombing hills or fast n’ loose park laps.”
