You know the name, now check out his steed; the Lib Tech Travis Rice Horsepower carries snowboarding’s number one auteur down the world’s gnarliest faces. Shorter lengths feature a blunt nose, whilst everything above 157cm has more of a pointed end.
“The hybrid profile makes it easier to ride the twin shape in powder, and the wavy edges grip harder snow like crazy”
The Lib Tech Travis Rice Horsepower has plenty of all-mountain sensibilities. The hybrid profile makes it easier to ride the twin shape in powder, and the wavy edges grip harder snow like crazy. It’s quite stiff, but if you’ve got the chops for it then it’s one to take to bigger features – both within resort bounds and way out of them.
As for the ‘Horsepower’, that refers to the build, which is a step up from Lib’s usual construction. Lightweight paulownia wood and basalt have been added to the core and fibreglass respectively, and the topsheet is an eco-friendly version made from, of all things, beans.
It might be a bit pricey, but if you’re after US craftsmanship put to the best possible use, check out the Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro Horsepower. If you’ve got even more cash to spend then there are two techier versions available: the Gold Member, and the Climax.
