Put one of snowboarding’s finest creative talents to work in one of the most experimental companies, and you’re bound to get good results. The Lib Tech Box Knife is, along with the Lib Tech Box Scratcher part of a winning brace from Think Thank head honcho Jesse Burtner.

“A combination of triax and biax fibreglass layers allow this board to walk the fine line between responsive and mellow, and perfectly compliment the mid-level flex”

The new Lib Tech Box Knife is the one he chooses when looking to ride a little more aggressively, but not overly so. It’s got camber rather than rocker, but otherwise sports roughly the same freestyle-forward shape, and a very similar build.

A combination of triax and biax fibreglass layers allow this board to walk the fine line between responsive and mellow, and perfectly compliment the mid-level flex. It’s a little more in tune with faster, more confident riding than it’s fellow Box, with solid contact points enhanced by wavy Magne-Traction edges. When you want to open the Lib Tech Box Knife up, the sintered base will see you through.

Ideally you want to test the limits of the Lib Tech Box Knife in the backcountry, but our testers considered it a great option for all-round, winter-long shredding too. It’s a fine addition to the Lib stable, and one well worth looking for the 2017/18 season.

Tester’s Verdict

Ed Blomfield – whitelines.com

“Many of Lib’s boards tend to fall into one of two camps: solid, stable, powerful (see Travis Rice Pro) or loosey-goosey rocker (see Skate Banana). The Box Knife excellently bridges this gap, offering the kind of fleet-footed freestyle performance that today’s market demands.

Its soft nose is butter-tastic, but the flex stiffens up through the middle to ensure you can enjoy a stable yet lively ride from park to piste. The 154 I tried was a little stumpy for serious backcountry riding but then I’m nearly 6 foot – no doubt the 157 or 160 would excel on powder kickers. Riding this, I found I was constantly looking for fun transitions and ways to get rad; it’s as if Lib have bottled the energetic spirit of Jesse Burtner.

If you’re looking for a creative all-rounder that will do you for a whole season – and is authentically made in America – then stick the Box Knife on your shortlist.”
