KORUA haven’t made a name for themselves by blending into the crowd. Even their simple, two-tone colourway makes their fleet instantly recognisable. Until the recent addition of the Otto, the Tranny Finder was their most conventional deck. Yearning for Turning has been the name of the game for the European carving crew, but the Tranny Finder isn’t afraid to mix things up.
When it comes to riding switch, Korua have split their boards into three categories: No Problem, Doable, and Challenging. Despite its directional shape, the Tranny Finder sits in the first grouping. Nor, as its name suggests, is it a stranger to spending time in the air and chucking the odd rotation.
Thanks to a blunt diamond-shaped nose and tail and extra width underfoot, the board can be sized down a little, making it feel like less of a tank to drive around the mountain. Moreover, by maintaining high overall volume and adding a scoop of rocker in the nose, you won’t encounter any issues keeping up top in the freshies.
“If you’re wanting to reach in and grab one board from the locker for mosts day of the season, here’s your weapon of choice”
There’s a decent chunk of backseat camber which, alongside KORUA’s unique carving sidecut, means the board stays responsive and grippy in hardpack. Additionally, by stiffening the tail just a touch, you can crank through the back-foot and dial up the angles without the imminent danger of skidding out.
The Tranny Finder genuinely holds up across the whole mountain. Of course, KORUA have an array of more niche products which cater to rider’s looking to burn their nipples off through a toe-side carve or eat powder for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That said, if you’re wanting to reach in and grab one board from the locker for most days of the season, they don’t come much more fun than this.
