Who Is The Kemper Flight 90/91 For?

You’re a freestyle rider who’s been around the block a few times, and you’re looking for something new that’s a little different. Funny thing is, this is a 90’s rerelease, so your new shape is in fact certifiably old school.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

We’re not sure what catches our eye first, the topsheet or the shape. Kemper lay claim to the Flight being the first snowboard on the market to use this ‘tombstone style’ nose and tail reminiscent of OG skate decks in the 90’s. Despite having a definite nose and tail and a slight setback, the Flight isn’t super directional, there’s no taper to speak of so you won’t have a problem taking off and landing switch.

The unique shape isn’t just to look cool, it also cuts down the swing weight for more balance when airborne. The Flight has pockets of camber directly under each insert pack, these deliver pop for loading up the nose and tail for ollie power, and offer more stability and aggression on piste. These flank a central rocker zone which acts as a pivot point, allowing you to lift the nose and tail with ease, and stops the board being as twitchy as a traditional camber.

Construction and Materials

A good park board has to have to life to it, and to kit this out, Kemper have used lively bamboo strips running through the core, keeping the Flight snappy and dynamic underfoot.

Pop the hood and you’ll find a dependable dual wood core sat in between powerful triax weave, these keep the board responsive and allow for precision when riding. Rounded out with a slick sintered base to keep your speed up as you’re on the in run for the kicker line.

“Not just nice to look at, the Kemper Flight is a workhorse”

Roundup

With its poppy profile and lively construction the Flight lives up to its name in between the park ropes and beyond. Not just nice to look at, the Kemper Flight is a workhorse for riders who’re looking for something a little unusual.
