K2 | 2020 – 2021 Snowboard Product Preview

A first look at next season's snowboard gear

K2 are releasing six brand new snowboards for the 2020/21 season: three men’s freeride, one women’s freeride, one women’s freestyle, and a new addition to the infamous Enjoyer’s Collection. Add to that four new men’s and women’s boots, then top it off the with hotly anticipated Clicker bindings and it’s looking like a pretty tantalising offering from K2 in the year ahead.

Starting with the Alchemist, K2 has pulled out all the stops to create a proper top-shelf, premium deck. This is the pillar of their freeride collection. Developed hand in hand with their team, it features a host of new technologies going by names such as Bambooyah Pro Core with Space GlassCarbon Power Forks, and Spectral Braid. It all sounds mighty confusing, but riding it makes perfect sense. This board’s a serious contender as one of our favourites for next season. A proper freeride powerhouse.

For riders in pursuit of that perfect powder turn or a wide, drawn-out carve on the groomers, the Instrument should come as music many people’s ears. A mid-flex, directional camber and tapered shape with a wider waist width – this is K2s newcomer with mass appeal.

As the name suggests, the new Manifest Team takes much of what made the original a best seller for K2, but ramps up the performance to meet the demands of their own roster. It adopts the same shape and profile as the Manifest but also comes specced with a 5500 Carbon infused base and K2’s new lightweight, super responsive Bambooyah Pro Core.

The ladies also have two more options in the K2 lineup next season: the super easy going all-mountain Dreamsicle and the performance-driven freestyle deck, the Spellcaster. Both additions cater to different ends of the riding spectrum, but with equal importance placed on quality, predictability and boosting rider’s confidence.

There’s also a new addition to the insanely popular, super fun, volume shifted Enjoyer’s Collection series. With the goal of creating the best possible deck for riding the powder fields of Niseko, K2 has worked with Yo Amagai and taken the outline of the Simple Pleasures but softened the flex, tweaked the camber and specced up the base to create an almighty powder quiver.

The revamped Clicker system gets a bit of an overhaul for the coming season too. There is now an integrated high back for an increased edge-to-edge response ad a bit of a redesign to the cleats, making clicking in and out a complete doozy.
