Who Is The Jones Youth Solution Split For?

Let’s face it, splitboarders – we old. OK, so that’s a pretty sweeping generalisation, but one in which you’ll hear the ring of truth. Traditionally, splitboarding has been the pursuit of those that have taco’d their last handrail. That being said, it’s skewing younger all the time, and there’s literally no reason why clued-up, chaperoned groms shouldn’t grab one of these and hit the skin track.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

For a deeper dive on the Jones Youth Solution’s vital stats, head over to our Jones Youth Flagship review [link] – as mentioned earlier, it’s essentially the same board.

They don’t call it the Solution for nothing; this split is designed to feel like a solid. The combination of pow- and carve-friendly shape with just enough torsional and longitudinal flex means that it excels in all conditions. Remarkably, Jones has managed to carry over the bevelled base design to the split version. This slight rise around the nose and tail makes floating in powder easier than ever, and smoothes out every edge change.

Construction and Materials

The Jones Youth Solution’s lack of corners cut is something we’ve got a lot of time for. This even has the ‘Traction Tech’ wavy edges on every stretch of metal, including the ‘inner’ edges. When the way up gets icy, you’ve got a lot more grip at your disposal that you would with a regular split.

It’s also held together with proper Karakoram ultra clips, giving you a rattle-free ride on the way down, and both ends have been reinforced with stainless steel for added durability points.

“There’s no better way to introduce Junior to proper adventureboarding”

Roundup

That’s a fair bit of wedge to put down for something that your grom will most likely grow out of, but we’d make the argument that the Jones Youth Solution pays for itself. There’s no better way to introduce Junior to proper adventureboarding.

In fact, once you factor in the snapped and/or delammed park boards you won’t have to replace, plus all the lift tickets you won’t be buying, it might actually be a bargain.
