As brands go, Jones Snowboards has never been one for ‘shrink it and pink it’ – what the men get, so too do the women. The Jones Twin Sister is equivalent to the Jones Mountain Twin [link], a Swiss Army Knife of a board that has the tools for any situation.

Who Is The Jones Twin Sister For?

While it’s easier than ever to be a specialist, whether it’s lapping the park from first chair to last, or keeping a bag stuffed with crampons and Ordinance Survey maps prepped at all times, there’s still a lot to be said for all-mountain boards. The Jones Twin Sister is for the masses, but still has a unique character.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

Jones classifies this one as ‘playful’, but keep in mind that it’s meant in relative terms to the rest of the brand’s offerings. The Twin Sister is far from a noodle, and you can’t be too lazy with it when going for a press. That makes it more trustworthy at speed, though, and suits the board’s other do-it-all characteristics (directional twin shape, rocker-camber-rocker profile) down to the ground.

Extra powder flotation comes courtesy of the spoon-shaped extremities, which are easy to keep above deep snow and also make it a dream to turn on piste.

Construction and Materials

The Jones Twin Sister has been built to have your back at all times. Nasty vibrations are taken care of by the core, which combines paulownia with poplar at a ratio that dampens out the ride. On ice, you’ve got the (recycled) oversized steel edges, made with a subtle wave that gives them more points with which to grip the firm stuff.

A no-frills construction gives you a consistent flex that has been over-built and then ‘broken in’. It’ll feel like an old faithful even on day one, and will stay that way for longer.

Roundup

For the female rider that doesn’t want to pigeonhole themselves, the Jones Twin Sister is always a good call. And while it should never be anywhere near the top of a ‘reasons to buy’ list, thanks to Annie Brace’s daubings we reckon this one has never looked better.
