“Reading my verdict of last season’s Mountain Twin, the 2021 iteration is almost unrecognisable from its predecessor apart from the paint job. The new outline is the biggest change to its appearance. There’s definitely more of a freestyle look about this one and that’s matched in its performance. The reduced swing weight, lighter core and 3D base profile all boost its park capabilities, but back on the piste and in fresh snow, it was still unmistakeably the Mountain Twin – full of the Jones freeride DNA their boards are known for.

In the past, I’d have recommended this for riders who wanted to spend 70-80% of their time on and off the piste, and occasionally dip their toes in the park. If you’re that kind of rider, it’s still absolutely ideal for you. Better, in fact. The re-design arguably gives you more grip on-piste and more float in powder than last year’s model.

The Mountain Twin has been a best seller in the Jones line for years. I’ve no doubt this year’s model will still appeal to the loyal fans just as much, if not more than ever before, while opening itself up to a whole new camp of riders – those looking to spend a good chunk of their season in the park.”

“There’s not too much to say that hasn’t already been said about the Mountain Twin. It’s billed as the most versatile snowboard in the Jones line – which is true – but it’s substantially more at home on the piste and sidecountry than the park.

Performance on piste is really solid. You don’t need to ride with razor-sharp technique for the Mountain Twin to deliver a responsive and dynamic ride. Float wise it ain’t too bad either. Being a little setback with some nose rocker makes the Mountain Twin a good option for capitalising on powder days without blowing your budget on a quiver stick.

I’m definitely someone who favours all-mountain freestyle over all-mountain freeride decks. Not because I’m a better park than piste rider, but because I’m the complete opposite. I want a board to hold my hand through the park and for me to hold its hand over the rest of the mountain. I guess I’m just sat on the other side of the line from the Mountain Twin. It wasn’t inspiring loads of confidence in the park, but I could more or less switch off everywhere else and it took it all in its stride.

It’s definitely for someone who prioritises pistes and freeriding over time in the park. Or, possibly, for bigger riders who keep getting tripped up on lighter, softer all mountain-freestyle boards.”
