Why we chose the Jones Dream Catcher Snowboard:“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”.

Dreamy powder days ripping with your crew are on the cards with the Jones Dreamcatcher. This all-mountain freeride snowboard is designed to go anywhere and everywhere, it’s playful access all areas fun, wrapped up in a pretty little package.

Whether it’s navigating narrow chutes, bonking pristine pillows or charging through chop and chunder, the Dream Catcher will be your willing partner in crime. Jones Snowboards are legendary freerider Jeremy Jones’ gift to the world, decades of experience and know how are packed into all of their offerings. With the Dream Catcher you get all the same tech that’s packed into their most premium products, sitting in an easier going and more user friendly shell.

“These subtle yet effective uplifts of the sides decrease drag, increase float, and give every turn a silky-smooth headstart”

The versatile camrock profile is your Goldilocks ticket to all-terrain flexibility. A powerful camber section between the inserts injects life and power through the board and stability underfoot. To keep you floating with ease the Dream Catcher has its mellow rockered tips, with a longer section in the nose for a more directional ride. This best of both worlds approach means you won’t be pigeon-holing yourself by sticking with a single profile and opens you up for a world of possibility.

Where the Dream Catcher really starts to pull away from the crowd is with the inclusion of Jones’ proprietary tech. Starting with the spoon-like 3D Contour Base 1.0, the Dream Catcher features a 2mm bevel from the contact points out to the tips. These subtle yet effective uplifts of the sides decrease drag, increase float, and give every turn a silky-smooth headstart. You’ll feel the benefits across the whole mountain, from hardpack cruising, smashing through chop and chunder, or powder surfing.

While Jeremy may be known as one of the GOATS in the freeride scene, the Dream Catcher is certainly no one trick pony. Let’s face it, for most of us incredible powder days are few and far between, so he creates snowboards that are as effective on hardpack as they are in the steep and deep. Traction Tech 2.0 disprupts the edge pattern, putting more contact points down the length of the board to increase grip when the snow is less than ideal. With the directional shape and super high-end sintered base you’ll be turning and burning from first lifts until last.

Those who follow Jeremy on any form of social media will be well versed with his steadfast dedication to climate resolution. His non-profit organisation, Protect Our Winters, aims to protect the environment and achieve global carbon neutrality by 2050. He himself admits that the manufacturing of snowboard gear isn’t the greenest of endeavours, but Jones aim to use sustainable production methods and recycled materials to create gear that’s as high quality as it is ecologically viable.

“This commitment to reducing their carbon footprint is a great case of Jones taking charge and leading by example”

The Dream Catcher uses Super Sap Bio Resin, recycled steel edges and ABS Sidewalls, a castor bean topsheet and sustainably harvested wood core. Jones snowboards are also all made using solar power, and the company donates 1% of all sales to non-profit partners. This commitment to reducing their carbon footprint is a great case of Jones taking charge and leading by example.

The mid flex and playful profile of the Dream Catcher open it up to novice riders, but make no mistake this isn’t a piddly snowboard, it’s as friendly as it is fierce and when you want to push it, it’ll come up trumps with the goods. Those with a more aggressive riding style looking to charge harder and faster would do well to check out the Jones Women’s Flagship, but for day to day cruising and mellow laps on the hill, the Dream Catcher is positively… dreamy.

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

Joy DutchWhitelines

“I really enjoyed the versatility of the Dream Catcher and had a lot of fun riding it despite normally favouring true twin boards. I think it’s because it doesn’t feel especially directional whilst you’re riding it on piste, but when you head off into the deeper snow you really reap the benefits.

“It’s so easy to keep floating and you’re left with a really surfy feel”

Taking this through powder stashes is amazing, it’s so easy to keep floating and you’re left with a really surfy feel. It’s lightweight and nimble, which leaves you able to dart in and out to your hearts content.

When riding groomers it feels very locked in through the entirety of the turn, and even first thing in the morning when it was pretty icy it still managed to bite well. I like that this isn’t a crazy stiff charging board, and is still soft enough to play around on. It feels stable at speed, but not like you’re riding a plank of wood.

It felt very consistent and comfortable in any and all conditions. Perfect for a rider who’s looking to progress all over the mountain.”

“The Dream Catcher is quickly becoming one of my favourite go-to boards for any situation. Its lightning fast base keeps you speeding along no matter the condition of the snow.

It’s the perfect board for powder days, and kept me floating effortlessly. Unlike some boards that perform well in the deep it feels very controllable on piste too, so there’s no need to worry about hopping on and off the side.

“It felt so stable and ‘locked in’ the whole time, even when it had early morning ice to contend with”

Carving was delightful and it felt so stable and ‘locked in’ the whole time, even when it had early morning ice to contend with. A lap through the park was super fun too. My only issue was it felt a teensy bit heavy, but in its defence it was a longer board than I would usually choose to ride.

I’d recommend the Dream Catcher for a rider who loves to rip and grip on piste, hunts out powder relentlessly, and wants a board that can keep up with them anywhere and anytime.”

“I found this board a bit boring on the piste as I always found myself to be the last one of the crew to reach the lifts, which made me feel slightly frustrated as I like to ride fast. But, as soon as we hit the powder, this board was amazing!

“As soon as we hit the powder, this board was amazing!”

I had one of the best powder runs of the season when riding this board. It worked especially well when riding in the forest, and making turns in between narrow tree lines felt easy and effortless. The lightness of the board works really well in powder, and makes riding very enjoyable and floaty – exactly what you aim for when riding fresh pow.

As a powder board I really enjoyed riding this, but on the piste the lightness of the board made it not quite aggressive enough for my taste.

The Jones Dream Catcher is a great all-mountain board, easy to ride everywhere and perfect for powder days. It’s also very progression-friendly.”
