http://mpora.com/videos/IyyWo9CLQ Well here it is: the first trailer for big mountain Jeremy Jones’ new movie, ‘Further’. Like his last TGR production, ‘Deeper’, it will be a two year project (released autumn 2012) and it looks like we can expect lots of hiking into wild, unridden terrain and a distinct lack of helicopters. The sequel promises to see Jeremy and friends go, y’know, further in their search for insane new challenges, meaning Svalbard – an archipelago in the Arctic Circle (the name will be familiar to anyone who’s read the Dark Materials trilogy or saw the gruesome news about a polar bear attack earlier this summer) and also Japan (judging by the iconic snow monkeys in the clip anyway).
The rider list is more impressive this time around too, with Jones joined by Terje Haakonsen, Nicolas Müller, Xavier de le Rue, DCP, Josh Dirksen and Lucas Debari. Are we witnessing the beginnings of a genuine splitboarding revolution? Will the masses follow their lead and begin hiking for their fix? Or have people had their fill of watching people climb uphill and listening to Jeremy’s drawl? Time will tell I guess, but for what it’s worth there seems to be a genuine momentum in the freeride scene right now, and that’s exciting.
