The free-riding legend Jeremy Jones has announced the launch of a brand new snowboard company – Jones Snowboards.
Jeremy will be channelling the talent that has seen him win Snowboarder Magazine’s Big Mountain Rider of the year a frankly ridiculous eight times into his new brand.
Jones, who has ridden for the French brand Rossignol for the last 19 years, has clearly not taken this decision lightly. In a statement on his website he said: “I want to thank everyone at the company for supporting me the last 19 years. You always gave me the freedom to do what I wanted with my snowboarding.”
However Jeremy is clearly stoked on his new venture, which he has high expectations for. He added: “I have started Jones Snowboards to develop the highest performance all-mountain snowboards on the market.”
“Freeride boards that reflect everything I’ve learned both on the snow and in the factory. Every snowboard we produce will be born of my passion and our designs will mirror the performance demands of my riding.”
Jeremy, who is also intimately involved with the Protect Our Winters environmental campaign, will also be taking an environmentally friendly approach to board design.
The new company will be based in Squaw Valley, California, and the boards will be made in the Nidecker factory, which also makes the Yes boards ridden by Romain de Marchi, JP Solberg and DCP.
Henry Nidecker, company president. “We are excited to collaborate with [Jeremy] on this new project and offer Jones Snowboards […] the commitment to quality that we’re well known for.”
We at Whitelines wish Jeremy all the best with his new venture, and we hope he keeps laying down the epic Alaskan descents he’s known for a good few years to come.
