Remember the Diaries Down Under webisodes from way back over the summer? Well, Japan Journals is brought to you by the same Nick Hyne-fronted Antipodean crew. With all of the contest and tradeshow madness of the past month or so, we’ve managed to let these episodes through our proverbial snowboard edit fishing nets so here’s a little catch up of the first three episodes.
You can succinctly sum up all three episodes with one, unassuming but rather evocative word: powder.
Episode 1
In Episode 1 the crew are reminded of just why everyone is constantly going on about how much snow falls in Japan. Nick Brown, Roland Morley-Brown and Dane Tiene stay with Nick Hyne’s host family Minakami before and scoring some waist deep powder at Nozawa Onsen.
Episode 2
In the second episode the crew head to Niseko where (surprise surprise) more amazing powder conditions and a whole bunch of rad looking pillow lines await.
Episode 3
Episode 3 is definitely our pick of the bunch here with the crew dragging generators and a bunch of lights into the Niseko backcountry for one of the most epic night sessions we’ve ever seen. Forget shredding one small patch of powder – here the guys hit kickers, pillow lines, cliffs and kickers in the black of night and score some epic shots along the way.
