What do you get when you bring together some of the world’s best snowboarders with a host of intoxicated, rave-mad snowbombers in Mayrhofen for four days of competing, partying and more? The Ride and Seek at Snowbombing, thats’s what! Pros and Snowbombers battled head to head for honour, bragging rights and a share of the 2000 euro prize purse in a competition has been dubbed by organisers as the ‘World’s funniest snowboard competition’. If our previous experience of Snowbombing tells us anything, it’s that they could very well be right…

Tuesday saw the hotzone.tv snowboard shop assemble some of Europe’s finest pro riders and pit them against Snowbombers in a banked slalom race. Local hero Rudi Kröll smashed it and five laps later walked away with the gold medal.

On Wednesday Hotzone pros and extra keen Snowbombers took to a specially designed kicker to throw down to the beats that were being pumped across the park (courtesy of Mistajam, Skream, Artwork and Scarlett Etienne). There was a fair share of frontflips and backflips and a smattering of slams and the assembled crowd loved every minute of it – no doubt in part thanks to the fluids and homemade pizzas provided by Grillhofalm.

Thursday was the main event with some of the world’s best pros lining up to drop into one of Mayrhofen’s mega booters. Our very own Jamie Nicholls stepped up on the day, stomping his staple cab 1080 to take the win in front of Peter König and Florian Heim. Yes Jamie!

Everything wrapped up on Friday with the Hotzone slip and slide water gap. We don’t really need to paint a picture of what that would have been like. Think superheroes, plenty of nudity, copious amounts of Schnapps flying aboot the place and more than a couple of comedy wipeouts. You just can’t go wrong. With snow and mist closing in it was up to Dj’s Ra and Smash Hifi to turn up the heat on the assembled rabble of spectators and bring them into the evening.

Not a bad program of events eh? And to think that these were just the daytime activities…
