Over the weekend, the Hintertux glacier officially opened it’s doors for snowboarding. Each year, Hintertux is one of the first glaciers in the northern hemisphere to open that features a banging snow park and the resulting edits are always a nice, albeit teasing reminder that winter is well on its way. Better start scoping out those early season deals then! Below are the three overview videos from the weekend hosted by the ever-charismatic Werni Stock.
Friday brought bluebird skies to match the excellent park conditions and a rider list that reads like the snowboard equivalent of the vip seating area at the Grammys, including Peetu Piiroinen, Seppe Smits, Sage Kotsenburg, Jamie Nicholls, Markku Koski, Marko Grilc, Kevin Backström, Ville Uotila, Roope Tonteri, Stephan Maurer, Markus Keller and Janne Lipsanen.
On Saturday the riders strapped in to hit the pro-line kickers in the awesomely titled ‘Session of the Dudes’ comp, which saw current World Snowboard Tour leader Roope Tonteri walk away with the overall dudeship, and local hero Werni Stock being crowned the most stylish rider. We’re not quite sure who that Seppe Smith guy is but he certainly knows how to throw down a trick or two ;)
On Sunday, while Werni and a significant proportion of the adult attendees were revelling in the honest brutality of alcohol induced dehydration, a bunch of young whippersnappers were out doing a photoshoot. The weather wasn’t quite as good as the previous days but that sure didn’t stop the pint sized shredders from having a jolly old time.
