Homecoming | KORUA Returns with Yearning for Turning Vol. IX

Korua serve up their latest snowboarding showdown of piste-carving, pow-slashing and euro-popping

Your turtle doves, French hens and partridges in pear trees can suck it. As far as we’re concerned, Christmas has already come early. For every snowboarder with an affinity for the simple satisfaction of railing on an edge, ‘tis the season to be turning. Last week, the Nidecker crew dropped their latest instalment in the Slice ‘N’ Dice chronicles. This week, the Swiss mavericks from KORUA Shapes have released their ninth addition to their Yearning For Turning saga – Homecoming.

After a winter season travelling the world in search of the best snow – and quite genuinely finding it in Japan – they returned to the Swiss mountains and realised that, in the end, there’s no place like home.

“Korua continue to create edits that achieve that rare thing which seems to elude so many others – they’re relatable”

Rallying the troops and hitting up their favourite local spots, YFT 9 has the look and feel of classic Korua. As said by the team themselves: “Volume 9 pays homage to all the things near and dear to us – dreamy powder fields, freshly groomed corduroy, wavy snowparks, and the consequent smiles and high-fives. To all of the above, we’re grateful and say thank you!”

From the euro-pop soundtrack that shouldn’t work, but really, really does, to blending the lines between flat-out piste charging and cruisey freestyle steeze, Korua continues to create edits that achieve that rare thing which seems to elude so many others – they’re relatable.

So, to all the cynics out there – get it watched. It turns out that 2 minutes and 51 seconds is more than enough time to get you in the mood. At least for snowboarding, anyway.
