Grindhouse – ‘Scare Money’ full film

Last night, in a packed out Clapham Picturehouse, Grindhouse premiered their brand new new film Scare Money. We were there to scope out the new flick and thanks to the afterparty and hefty bar tab, we’re all feeling pretty worse for wear this morning. Some of us evidently more so than others. While last year’s movie Prequel was filmed in both UK domes and North American parks, Scare Money is a strictly urban affair, following the crew to the streets of France, Austria, Finland, Canada, USA and Scotland. There’s no doubt that these guys (Will Smith, Jon Addison, Matt Macwhirter, Tom Guilmard, Andy Nudds, Ben Wall, Tom Honey, Billy Neilson, John Weatherley, Ollie Dutton, Chris Chatt & Andy Laird) are the cream of the crop when it comes to UK rail riding and in it’s 30 minute running time, Scare Money does a bloody good job of showing off the breadth and depth of our homegrown.

We’ll be honest, we were expecting the soundtrack to feature a whole load of hip hop tunes, but Grindhouse filmer, editor and mastermind Jamie Durham absolutely smashed the song selection and production on this. One of our only real criticisms is that quite a few of the spots were repeated across the various sections, however with a minimal budget and only one cameraman, this was probably to be expected. With the right sort of exposure, there’s no telling where Grindhouse could be headed in the coming years. More spots, more exotic locations and the same top notch production no doubt. From Will Smith’s buttery presses at the start of the film, through to Andy Nudds’ incredibly well-rounded ender, this is nothing less than banger after banger (plus a load of gnarly slams). The most ‘legit’ UK jib film ever? We think so – I mean, when was the last time you saw someone from the UK slide through a beast of down-flat-down rail outside the park? Consider that money well and truly terrified.
