UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Gnu Space Case here

If you’ve got someone on the pro team that knows his way around a streetrail and a paintbrush, why not get him to design every aspect of a snowboard? That was Gnu’s logic when they enlisted Forest Bailey to dream up this, the Gnu Space Case.

“The Gnu Space Case still rides just as well switch as regular – something that won’t surprise those familiar with Forest’s techy trick bag”

The Gnu Space Case is asymmetrical in every sense. Not only does the sidecut run deeper on the heelside, the contact points are different to give you the best, most efficient turning circle on both sides.

The core is also a little softer on the heelside, something that you might not notice right away but that works effectively alongside the board’s other asym characteristics. Despite all that, the Gnu Space Case still rides just as well switch as regular – something that won’t surprise those familiar with Forest’s techy trick bag.

While he’s best known for urban riding, Forest sees no need to change up his deck in a resort. The rocker-heavy profile makes it easier to ride powder, and the multiple bite points of the wavy Magne-Traction edges work a treat on groomers.

It’s definitely more one for freestyle though, particularly boxes, rails, ledges and whatever else you can find in the park or the streets.

Tester’s Verdict

Michael Readsnowfit.co.uk

The first thing I noticed about this board is how well it holds and edge – with its asymmetric shape combined with Magne-Traction, this board was wicked for carving and moving from edge to edge quickly.

“The Space Case was also really playful on both the smaller and larger features, making it ideal for any level of rider”

Due to the responsiveness, when riding the park this was really handy as it made it easier to line up from feature to feature. The Space Case was also really playful on both the smaller and larger features, making it ideal for any level of rider.

The Forest Bailey graphic on this board is also really rad and would look great up on the wall in any man-cave during the summer.
