Who Is The Gnu Riders Choice For?

Everyone and anyone. It’s not the fastest, lightest or most aggressive deck out there, but that’s part of the charm of the Riders Choice. It’s the pepperoni pizza of snowboards- nothing too crazy, but pretty much every rider can get on board with it.

If you’re a newer rider who doesn’t quite know what type of riding they’ll be doing, or a seasoned vet who wants one board to do it all, then you’re in the right place.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

With its asymmetric construction the Riders Choice performs far better on the hardpack than a rocker dominant twin really has any right to, a delightfully balanced ride with solid turns through the heelside and increased grip thanks to the Magne-Traction edge profiling.

Gnu’s C2x hybrid profile places a small rocker section in the middle of the board, with two longer camber sections outside of it, this is where you get the best of both worlds approach that pays dividends across varied terrain. Float in the powder, dynamic power on groomers and easy-wheeling butterability for cruisy laps with your crew. If you’re looking for something with just a bit more snap and dynamic power, then the RCC3 has the same dimensions and spec, but with Gnu’s extra poppy C3 camber profile.

Construction and Materials

As we’ve said, the Riders Choice isn’t the highest spec board in the Gnu line, but for the everyday rider who is more cruisy laps than ballbusting speed and aggression it’s more than enough.

With its slightly stiffer than middle of the road flex, lightweight core, and triax fibreglass weave, the Riders Choice is still able to react quickly underfoot but isn’t super stiff and unwieldy when you’re taking it easy.

Roundup

If you’re looking for an all-out powder charger or a super soft jib stick then this probably isn’t quite for you, but for one snowboard that’ll do a bit of everything, and do it well, then the Riders Choice is a box ticking extraordinaire.
