New for 20/21, FW is introducing their women-specific Catalyst 2L snowboard pants. Designed for the backcountry, FW’s used recycled yarn and eco insulation to bring us a pair of high-quality pants (that also consider the environmental impacts of the manufacturing process).
Just like the FW Catalyst 2L jacket, the pants too are made using sustainable materials. The fabric is made out of recycled yarn. For the insulation, they’ve used Primaloft’s Black Eco Insulation which is made out of 80% post-consumer recycled materials. For the pants to be more suited for a hike, the insulation remains quite low at 40g. However, they still do a beyond great job when it comes to keeping you warm.

When you’re planning on hiking off the beaten path, you ought to make sure your outerwear is up for that too. The higher the waterproof and breathability ratings are, the better. With a 15K waterproof rating, you’ll do just fine when hiking up or charging down in deep snow, while the 10K breathability will keep you dry when things start to get heated. However, if you’re looking to get something for more advanced backcountry missions, you may want to look for outerwear with higher ratings.
The adjustable waistband allows you to adjust the pants to your liking, while the large cargo pocket is perfect for stashing mid-day treats in. If things start to get a bit too toasty, you can let a nice breeze in by opening the inner leg vents.
Made to take on the harshest of conditions, the FW Catalyst 2L pants are a great shout whether you’re heading for a shorter backcountry mission or simply just want to cruise through the resort. You’ll also be doing mother nature a favour by putting your money on this product, as FW is a member of 1% for the planet.
The model in the photo 5’4” (164cm) tall and wearing size S.
