Why we chose the FW Manifest Tour Hybrid Hoodie Mid-Layer: A stylish yet practical mid-layer that respects Mother Nature.

New for season 20/21, FW is introducing the Manifest Tour Hybrid Hoodie puff. It works equally well as a mid-layer, when you’re looking to add some warmth, or simply on its own. Stacked with tech, style and warmth, this mid-layer undoubtedly deserves a spot in the Whitelines 100.

We often like to spend a good amount of money on high-quality good-looking outerwear, and thus the importance of a good mid-layer can sometimes become forgotten. However, we’d like to remind you how important a good mid-layer is – the better the mid-layer, the better chance the outerwear has of working to its maximum capacity.

“The air exchange technology keeps you comfortably dry throughout the day”

Finding a balance between staying comfortable when hiking up but warm when standing isn’t as easy as you’d think. Constantly having to layer up and down is exhausting and time-consuming, so finding a mid-layer that works for keeping you both cool and warm when needed makes life so much easier.

The FW Manifest hoodie does an extremely good job when it comes to temperature regulation, meaning it helps to both cool you down and heat you up (if that makes sense). The Polartec Alpha insulation, originally invented for none other than the US special forces, is engineered for consistent warmth, while also being very breathable.

Its breathability will come in handy when engaging in more strenuous activities. The air exchange technology keeps you comfortably dry throughout the day, and you won’t have to constantly increase/decrease things on the layers front.

Whilst exchanging the airflow within, the insulation also resists moisture and dries incredibly fast. So even when sweating, the moisture evaporates and doesn’t add any weight to the layer – meaning you won’t need to worry about carrying around any excess weight.

This mid-layer is also stacked with loads of rad features. The hoodie is insulated with Polartec Alpha 100g insulation. A 100g insulation is pretty decent all things considered, so your neck and head won’t be getting cold here.

“FW incorporates less impactful materials that are proven to be both durable and functional”

FW’s also placed some of Polartec Powerstretch material under the arms and on the side panels, allowing for a wider range of movement. This also means that you’ll be able to lift up your arms without the top raising all the way up and revealing your bare stomach (and that embarrassing belly button tattoo).

This Alpine-born brand is also taking steps to preserve its milieu. FW incorporates less impactful materials that are proven to be both durable and functional. The longer your garment’s life expectancy, of course the lower its environmental impact becomes. If the product does get damaged, FW offers a repair service meaning that rather than getting a new product you can keep your old one going for longer. Good stuff.

FW is also a proud member of 1 % for the Planet: one per cent of their sales directly support a non-profit organisation with green principles.

All in all, the FW Manifest Tour Hybrid Hoodie is a great shout whether you’re aiming to set off into the backcountry or simply want to make sure you won’t spend another season shivering your arse off on the chairlift.

The model in the photo is 6’2” (187cm) tall and wearing size M.
