Did you know that there’s another snowboard competition going on this week? Luckily we just remembered… Oops! So much riding and so little time.
The third stop of the Freeride World Tour went off in Kappl, Austria at the weekend. It was originally scheduled to take place in Kitzbüheler but last minute severe weather necessitated a last minute venue change.
For the second time this year Sammy Luebke came out victorious. You can check out his winning run in the highlights video above, it includes a different type of triple than we’ve been used to lately.
Defending tour champion Ralph Backstrom placed second and Verbier-based Emilien Badoux got the bronze, both with runs superior to the rest of the pack.
Our boy Sascha Hamm only managed a ninth-place finish, putting him in at sixth overall at the halfway point of the tour, but with not too many points in it he’s still not out the running for a FWT medal. Exciting stuff!
