The third stop of the 2022 Freeride World Tour at Kicking Horse Golden, BC, Canada, has just been confirmed for Saturday the 12th of February and dare we say, will play host to the most consequential showdown of the season.
“Due to the new FWT format for 2022, the third stop determines The Cut, meaning only the top-ranked riders will continue to the FWT Finals in Austria and Switzerland”
Due to the new FWT format for 2022, the third stop determines The Cut, meaning only the top-ranked riders will continue to the FWT Finals in Austria and Switzerland. These last two stops are also more heavily weighted, as the winner will score up to 12.500PTS at stops #4 and #5, whilst the three first stops only allowed the winner to score up to 10.000PTS per stop.
With the fourth-largest vertical drop on the continent, Kicking Horse is renowned for its steep, challenging terrain and cold and dry powder snow. The competition venue, Ozone, was historically a permanently closed area, speaking for just how challenging conditions the riders will face.
With 324m of vertical drop and an east-southeast exposure, Ozone features a wide variety of terrain in a compact area, giving options for both classic big mountain lines as well as progressive freestyle runs.
