Last week we may have mentioned that teenage canuck Mark McMorris had stomped the world’s first backside triple-cork 1440. After having to wait an agonising four days, we can now take a look at the trick in all its mental glory.

First off we have the boy himself briefly talking up the trick, looking very pleased with himself (as well he might). Then we see a few examples of what happens when you make even the slightest mistake on a triple attempt; looks like Mark was much more likely to end his season trying this, rather than enter the history books. Nevertheless, he did stick it in the end and, well, it’s quite a thing….

Four full rotations, off-axis three times. Stomped clean as anything, with nothing out of place. No doubt this will re-ignite the progression debate that has been particularly pertinent ever since Torstein stuck the first triple, but for now we’ll just say this: congratulations to Mark for achieving what some once thought impossible. Can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.
