If you saw yesterday’s round-up of global snow conditions, you’ll know that Europe pulled the short straw this year, with powder days in painfully short supply. However, that’s about to change.
An unholy amount of neige is due to fall in the next couple of days, with France getting the best of it. La Clusaz, host resort for the upcoming Avant Premiere board test, is expecting about three feet in total before the weekend!

It looks like a case of ‘better late than never’ for Euroland – but for Brits travelling to the Alps, things could get messy. While the Alp-adjacent airports (not to mention the surrounding road crews) are relatively good at handling dumps like this, travel disruption is a real possibility. It’s a good time to check what your insurance says about cancelled flights, and to be prepared for long delays.
Then once you get to your resort, keep an eye on the avalanche forecasts. After such a long wait, it’s easy to get carried away – stay safe!
