It’s not unusual for snowboard brands to split their range into performance categories, or look towards surfing or skating’s heritage in their design. Endeavor like to do things a little differently. Their unisex Foundation, United and Powder Quiver series draw inspiration from military aviation, architecture, furniture design and European supercars. The Ranger recreates the aesthetic of the camo-print of the US AirForce and is able to blend into almost any environment across the mountain.
Despite being a freestyle deck at its core, it’s by no means confined to the park. Endeavor’s Multi Camber combines a healthy dose of camber, through the centre of the board, with an early rocker rise in the nose and tail. It’s built around a true twin shape, too. Whichever way you go in to, or come out of a feature, you’ll get a really balanced, responsive ride with the added bonus of enough of a ‘get out’ when things don’t quite go to plan.
“Even for a softer flexing, freestyle focussed board, it should inject a little more confidence to charge the rest of the mountain”
Take it to the rest of the mountain and you’ll feel that flex sitting slap, bang in the middle. There’s a decent amount of torsional response to give you the confidence to push a bit harder. Meanwhile, the poplar core provides plenty of lightweight response, while birch reinforcements around the Channel Inserts add a little extra armour.
Once you’re up to full speed (which comes pretty quickly on the Dura Surf 4001 Sintered base) the Smoothride Urethane sidewalls provide plenty of dampening along the edge. Though it’s a softer flexing, freestyle focussed board, it still inspires confidence to charge the whole mountain.
Simplicity done right is a beautiful thing. Here, Endeavor have done away with the bells and whistles and left your riding to do the talking. Strapped into the Ranger should leave you with plenty of stories to tell.
