The Live has been a staple in Endeavor’s line since day one and has huge mass appeal for many reasons. Firstly, it comes in a whopping thirteen unisex sizes, so there’s likely to be a perfect fit for about 90% of snowboarders out there. More importantly, though, is the construction itself. It’s has cracked the Holy Trinity of profile, shape and sidecut, to create a proper snowboarder’s snowboard.

It’s definitely one for the more experienced riders out there who demand uncompromising, dynamic, and powerful performance. A traditional camber, directional twin shape and eight metre long sidecut will be music to many rider’s ears. It has the look and feel of a steely, ice-cold killer, and in the hands of the wrong operator, that’s exactly what it will feel like, too.

All-mountain freeriding is definitely the Live’s first order of business. The board’s personality only starts to shine at higher speeds when it’s getting worked. The lightweight poplar and birch core is sandwiched between triax fibreglass sheets which add to its snappy responsive feel.

However, it’s the addition of carbon stringers from each insert out to the nose and tail’s contact points that really brings the Live to life. Not only does this provide you with a tonne of pop and supercharge the ends of the board, it also helps to keep the ends from flapping like a fledging bird. Lastly, the addition of Smoothride urethane sidewalls gives the board a feeling of being bubble wrapped in dampening properties.

In between the Channel inserts, the board has a little more torsional forgiveness, so it’s not out of the realms of possibility for stronger riders to still get creative with their butters and freestyle riding. Horses for courses, though. Don’t buy a thoroughbred if you’re scared of getting bucked off.

Tester’s Verdict

“I’m not sure why it took me so long, but this is the first season I got to ride an Endeavor snowboard. There’s probably no better place to start than the Live, their long-standing all-rounder in the line.

It’s a classic snowboard in every sense. Mid flex, mid camber and directional twin shape. There’d been a fair dump of snow the night before, so jumping onto a snowboard without even a sliver of rocker didn’t exactly get me amping. In the end, that only set me up for a pleasant surprise as soon as I strapped in.

“The best part of the Live, for me, is the difference between the flex in the tip and tail versus the centre of the board”

I put the bindings further far back and it actually held up on the surface impressively well (especially riding a board 2cm shorter than my usual size). It’s not primed for these conditions, but with the right size, you’d do just fine for anything less than a two-foot overnight dump.

The best part of the Live, for me, is the difference between the flex in the tip and tail versus the centre of the board. You feel like you can smash into choppy snow with a steady head, and really load the tail to get that ping at the exits, but there’s still enough give in the middle for it to feel super manoeuvrable. For riders who like to ride with a bit of aggression but don’t want to rule out any freestyle in their day, this would be a solid contender.

The Live has the look and feel of a quality snowboard. For riders who are a little undecided on where their strengths lay, let the Live make the decision for you. When you’re charging, it’s up there in the front row with you, screaming and hollering to go faster, but as soon as you take your foot off the gas it mellows out and shows you its softer side.”
