Why we chose the Endeavor BOD Snowboard: A deadly black on black aesthetic meets big tech and even bigger all-mountain performance.

Producing a stand-out all-mountain board in today’s crowded one-quiver-solution market place is no easy task. Rather than quietly follow along with the masses, Endeavor’s B.O.D. has moved away from the routine traditions of directional twin shapes and camrock profiles to, instead, come up with their unique take on that elusive ‘box ticker’ of a snowboard that blends float, pop and grip with a double-barrel dose of fun.

The 3D Camber shape does most of the heavy lifting here. The base and edge around the contact points have been bevelled slightly upwards, giving the nose and tail a subtle spoon shape. This allows the nose of the B.O.D. to surf through soft snow and go from piste to pow without so much as a moment’s hesitation.

“The B.O.D takes the key components of a powder quiver and a park destroyer and blends them into a concoction of pure all-mountain performance”

It’s not a powder specific snowboard, however. Rather, the B.O.D takes the key components of a powder quiver and a park destroyer and blends them into a concoction of pure all-mountain performance. Sure, the base profile helps to push snow out from underneath, but there’s still a positive camber running for its full length, as well as a true twin shape. And we all know where that comes in handy.

That combination of shape and profile delivers more than enough power to send the bigger features, but it doesn’t forgo any of that forgiveness that comes from having less edge to catch. This means less hang-ups on rails and fewer scorpions or hard heelside slams on landings, as well the endless buttering potential the convex nose and tail shape is crying out to used for.

To cap off its all-mountain credentials Endeavor have taken some more classic technology from that genre using carbon beams in the tip and tail to give it responsiveness and grip on the groomers. Suggesting the B.O.D’s the Swiss Army Knife of snowboards would be clichéd and unnecessary, especially considering it’s Canadian and a long way off red. But you get the idea.

“With almost 20cm differentiating the smallest and biggest sizes, it doesn’t matter whether you’re 45kg with Size 4 boots or 6’1’’ and tonnes of fun, there’s a B.O.D. for you”

The B.O.D. comes from Endeavor’s Foundation series of snowboards that in their words “…draw inspiration from classic, utilitarian design.” Don’t mistake classic for simple or basic, though. The Dura Surf 4001 Sintered base and responsive tri-axial glass fiber layups ensure that all the essentials are met well above the minimum standard.

We’ve seeing an increase in unisex sizing from some of the major brands this season – which we happily welcome – but Endeavor have quietly led the way in this department for many winters now. With almost 20cm differentiating the smallest and biggest sizes, it doesn’t matter whether you’re 45kg with Size 4 boots or 6’1’’ and tonnes of fun, there’s a B.O.D. for you.

Tester’s Verdict

Rob McCreathWriter, Whitelines

“After hearing nothing but good things from my buddy Rhys (see verdict below), I was super keen to get a day on the BOD. I’m so glad I did. A lot of the Tignes community are loyal fans of Endeavor and with a snowboard such as this one it’s easy to see why.

This is exactly what I want from an all-mountain snowboard. It steps up to faster riding and increased forces, the ends are super floaty (way more than you’d ever expect for a true twin) and the pop from the full-length camber is on point.

Though I’ve never been a die-hard fan of 3D base profiles, it’s subtle enough on the BOD to feel like a traditional camber, but there were a few moments on some flatland jibs where it definitely saved my pride.

“The BOD just felt like the board I wanted to be on for every condition I encountered that day”

I didn’t ride it in blower powder or perfect springtime groomers. In fact, it was a pretty ordinary day to take it out on. I think that’s what I loved so much about it though. Most boards feel pretty great on the best days of the season, but not so many feel this fun on the average days. There were some clouds, there was some ice, there were some bumps and crud, there was also a few leftovers of powder, but nothing to write home about.

The BOD just felt like the board I wanted to be on for every condition encountered that day- both the good and the bad. That, for me, is all-mountain versatility at its best.”

“The Endeavor Board Of Directors is a great daily driver, and felt pretty straightforward to ride. Cool graphics too – liking the new unisex range this year. It’s built for freestyle, flatland tricks, jibbing and is awesome for side hits – just a really good all-round charger to be honest. Also the the twin shape and flex makes this perfect for riding switch.

It felt smooth when changing edges and really solid for carving which is probably down to that 3D camber in the nose and tail, but I’d be happy taking this board out into any conditions.

Was real fun in the park as its got bags of pop, found it went well over both smaller and larger jumps.

Good grip on the groomers.  Didn’t get the chance to take this in powder and not sure that is quite this board’s forte but would happily give it a go if given the chance.

I’d recommend this board to intermediate and advanced riders who are looking for something to charge the whole mountain on and get in the park.”
