Electric EG3.5 2017-2018 Snowboard Goggles Review

The Electric EG3 snowboard goggles rank among the biggest ‘frameless’ models on the market, and their combination of top tech and super-sized aesthetics have made them hugely popular. For those who want all the benefits in a slightly smaller package, however, the Electric EG3.5 snowboard goggles will be the better choice.

“‘Brose’, Electric’s own blend of bronze- and rose-tinted lenses, are suitable for a wider variety of conditions”

Lenses for the Electric EG3.5 goggles are easily changed via the ‘Press Seal Techology’ system. As the name suggests, you simply push the outer edge of the lens against the frame, and a ridge on the former finds its way snugly into a plastic track that runs right around the latter. As well as making it really easy to change your lens as weather conditions dictate, it also results in clean-looking goggles that have no visible levers or buttons.

The lens itself is made from a tough polycarbonate with an anti-reflective coating that’s also highly scratch-resistant. 100% UV protection is guaranteed, so your eyes get an easy ride in these. There are plenty of lenses from which to choose, including ‘Brose’ – Electric’s own blend of bronze and rose tints that are suitable for a wider variety of conditions.

“Vents along the top allow hot air from your head to escape, and maintain a consistent airflow that helps to prevent fogging”

As for the frame, a urethane-based design is the reason why the Electric EG3.5 is both super lightweight and unaffected by extreme cold. Vents along the top allow hot air from your head to escape, and maintain a consistent airflow that helps to prevent fogging. If you wear a helmet, this will still function effectively, and the frame is a good fit for virtually any lid.

The moisture-wicking face foam is the icing on the cake that is the Electric EG3.5 snowboard goggles. If you like a frameless look that doesn’t go overboard in the size department, check these out.

Tester’s Verdict

Sam McMahon – whitelines.com

“Frameless goggles look cool, but one problem has always been that the lack of frame around the lens means there’s always gaps for moisture and snow to get in.

“After a half day riding in humid, foggy conditions they remained as clear as a bell”

Not so with the EG3.5s and their ‘Press Seal Technology’ – they felt as comfortable as anything on my face and after a half day riding in humid, foggy conditions they remained as clear as a bell, even whilst hiking to catch some fresh.

They look pretty fly too.”
