UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Dupraz D1 6’+ here

Serge Dupraz’s approach to snowboard making (and marketing) is simple: he’s long since ditched the irreverent model names that change from year to year, instead giving his range a laser-beam focus on what really matters.

“Naturally it’s a long gun, so anyone wielding it should have the confidence to open the throttle on a wide, groomed face”

The Dupraz D1 snowboard comes in many shapes and sizes, and finding the right one for your needs is easy. If you’re a fan of aggressive charging at high speeds on groomed trails, the Dupraz D1 6′ ‘longboard’ (that’s 178cm in metric) is where you should be looking.

Naturally it’s a long gun, so anyone wielding it should have the confidence to open the throttle on a wide, groomed face – and if that’s your bag, you’ll find that this makes carving more exciting than ever. Carbon-laced triax fibreglass ensures it’s responsive even at the highest speeds, and the tapered shape and slightly setback camber profile more than fit the bill.

The directional shape will work well in powder too, although narrow chutes are probably not where you want to head. Find an open bowl, though, and the Dupraz D1 6′ will not disappoint.

After something with even more grunt? The ‘+’ version seen here is fairly stiff, but opt for the ‘++’ or ‘X-Light’ versions (which come in at a higher price) and you’ll get something even stiffer and lighter.

Tester’s Verdict

Andrew Duthie – whitelines.com

“My expectations for the Dupraz D1 6’+ were sky-high. There’d been a lot of positive word of mouth from my fellow testers, and it looked great. Did it live up to the hype? Most definitely.

“It’s ridiculously stable at speed, so much so that you’ll find yourself increasing your pace with every run.”

It’s long, fairly stiff, and goes like the clappers, so if you can find a fresh bit of piste whilst riding this beast, you’re in for a treat. It’s ridiculously stable at speed, so much so that you’ll find yourself increasing your pace with every run.

Getting spontaneous is out of the question, but plot a carving route and you’ll be utterly won over by this.”
