Saturday saw the return of Go Big or Go Home to Bearsden, Glasgow. The event, organised by Danny and Matt McCormick, had set it’s own bar ridiculously high with last year’s comp, which Jamie Nicholls famously claimed was “probably the best dryslope competition ever to go down!” Many must have wondered whether the standard of riding could be replicated or topped this year.
Jamie once again made the journey up to Bearsden, and was joined by fellow Salomon team rider Will Smith to embrace their plastic roots. Both riders spend more time on snow these days but have clearly still got serious skills on the mats. Once again, the level of riding went truly off the meter, with double frontflips, double backside rodeo attempts, 900’s and everything in between being stomped willy-nilly. This year it was big bro Danny McCormick who claimed the win with his huge, consistent tricks, while Matt McCormick had to settle for best trick with a monstrous backside 900. Is Go Big or Go Home set to become one of the most epic competitions in the dryslope calendar? Judging by the standard of riding at these past two events, the answer can only really be yes!
One thing is for certain; dryslope riding is most definitely still alive and well and we couldn’t be more stoked.
