In this third episode of Diaries Down Under Nick Hyne and the gang check out the Burton High Fives – this year’s equivalent of the NZ Open. We’ve already seen a lot of footage from the event but it’s nice to see bangers like Mark McMorris’ first triple cork attempt in slopestyle (ever), Stale Sandbech’s backside 1440 and Mikkel Bang’s steezy winning run, from a fresh new perspective.
After that it’s off to Cardrona to session a super scary looking, specially built 20 ft kicker to 30 ft rail where all sorts of crazy shit get’s thrown down. There are backflips to slides, backside rodeo’s to front boards and quite possibly sketchiest of all: one-footers to slides. You wouldn’t catch me trying that if terrorists had my mother held hostage and were physically harming her until I tried it! On second thoughts, I probably would…but only for that.
