Since 2015 the queens have reigned supreme in Obergurgl, the Diamond Girls shaper crew have been serving steaming hot park set ups led by designer Lana Behla. Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is affectionately known as ‘The Diamond of the Alps’ so what better name for their all-girl shaper crew than the Diamond Girls.
They’re the only all-female shaper crew in Europe, and quite possibly the world- a responsibility they don’t take lightly. Like with most things, the girls have had to work hard to prove themselves, and they’ve been consistently underestimated. But when you’re showing time and time again that you’ve got the sauce with just how creative you can be with your features and how well-made your park is people soon shake off their doubt and start getting stoked to get a few hot laps in the park.
This year, for the first time ever, the Audi Nines will host a separate event for the ladies, and who better to build the set up than the Diamond Girls? After listening to the feedback of the riders last year, the Audi Nines team have decided to run 2 events simultaneously and have the female athletes riding their own specific course, hosted in Obergurgl. Building such a huge scale set up and having to shape it to absolute perfection is a massive challenge to undertake, but we have zero doubt that the girls will absolutely smash it. We’re amped to see what the Diamond Girls can bring to the table when they’re on the global stage, they’re gonna be putting themselves to the test, but they for sure have the minerals to pull off a world class event.
