Dark Matter | New GoPro Footage With Travis Rice and Elias Elhardt

Edit shot purely on GoPro shows just how good the conditions in Alaska were during the filming of Dark Matter

If GoPro PoV footage looks steep, you know it must be. For anyone who hasn’t seen Dark Matter Travis Rice’s latest film project with Elias Elhardt, GoPro have just released a twelve-minute edit of raw, unseen footage from the film, shot purely on their action cams. In fact, even if you have seen it, this possibly even trumps the film itself. Low on voice overs, moody lighting and space philosophy; heavy on shredding.

After getting back in front of the lens of visionary director Curt Morgan, they scored once in a lifetime conditions at the Tordillo Mountain Lodge, set deep in the remote Alaskan backcountry. Travis explains how he’d been out in AK two weeks previously, but spent the duration of his time in the lodge as it snowed around four to five metres. The opportunity to return was too good to pass up, and it paid off spectacularly.

T. Rice and Elias stacked line after line of perfect spine walls in bluebird conditions. The amount of previously unseen footage in this clip gives just some idea as to how epic conditions must have been.  And when they find themselves on top of some of the biggest lines in the world, a casual selfie stood on the knife-edge of a 2,000-foot ridge, Travis says: “Third run of the day… probably some of the most technical terrain out there”, before dropping in like the rest of us would for a resort home run. Then again, it’s Travis Rice. What would you expect?

Dark Matter is available to watch on Amazon Prime, iTunes and Vimeo On Demand.
