The Audi Nines are always one of the highlights of the snowboard season, they’re as well known for the balls to the wall riding as the eye-catching design, but this year we’re seeing some real special sauce coming out of Switzerland.
The latest video teaser comes courtesy of GoPro and Halldór, with a first look at the course and a walk through some of the monumentally massive features.
The course may look like an enchantingly aesthetic winter wonderland, but it’s nothing if not a wolf in sheep’s clothing. For 2021, Nico Zacek and the Audi Nines crew have collaborated with renowned Audi car designer and creative mastermind Sebastian Gehwolf, to construct one of the gnarliest courses of all time. With Sebastian in the driving seat, and the usual suspects riding shotgun, the course is looking crazier than ever, there’s a veritable smorgasbord of features, with something to suit even the most peculiar palate.
“Design and aesthetics have always been an important aspect of the Audi Nines,” says event founder Nico Zacek. “The result of Sebastian’s vision is something that we never could have hoped to dream of. Through this collaborative approach, we’ve built a bridge between action sports and design to truly reach a new level for both fields.”
“We’re still frothing to see what these loose cannons manage to cook up”
Audi Nines 2021 is set to kick off 7-10 April, in Crans-Montana, and while the event is closed to the public this year, we’re still frothing to see what these loose cannons manage to cook up. With the ‘Rona putting paid to the 2020 iteration, and travel bans and quarantine orders still in place across most of the continent, the Audi Nines crew have been working their socks off to pull this off in a safe environment amidst the pandemic.
