Eero Ettala announced his arrival to the wider world with a bangin’ part in Standard Films’ Lost in Transition, Robotfood continued their crusade against the too cool for school brigade with their third film Afterlame, and JP Walker took street rail riding to another level in Mack Dawg’s classic Chulksmack.

But while all of these were no doubt significant, we’ve ended up choosing a video section from a man who (whether you love him or hate him) has stamped his presence on snowboarding like almost no-one else over the last ten years. Yes, we’re talking about Shaun White. Two years before he won his Olympic Gold Medal, the teenage prodigy was already enough of a superstar to fill a full-length snowboard movie – The White Album. With this 2004 film, the still young Shaun showed that he was a special talent, and not just a marketing phenomenon. This section shows him tearing up rails and kickers in Snowpark NZ, with not a halfpipe in sight. Whatever you think of him, you have to admit the boy’s got skills.
