Freestyle snowboarding is set to make a come back at the Chill Factore following a lengthy summer of repairs to the slope. The Manchester based dome may have been out of action for a while, but the dome owners are more than making up for it now – as well as announcing the first ‘Core’ freestyle night of the winter on Friday October 15th, the Chill Factore team announced that they’ve poured £25,000 of investment into new rails for the slope! Not bad eh?
Most of this stonking amount of cash has been spent on five new features made by the German company Schneestern, including a sick picnic bench. The features are modular, so the various bits can be taken apart and put back together in up to 50 different ways, meaning the park set-up is guaranteed to be different each week. You’ll never get bored of a line again! Hamish McKnight, the Team GB coach who’s been working with the dome on the park redesign reckons that it’s “the single biggest investment to freestyle snowboarding park features ever made in the UK”.
For the opening night on Friday 15th, Chill Factore are offering a special discount – four hours of slope time for just £5(!) – if you use the promo code IMCORE4LP5. On top of this, the slope has revamped their rider sponsorship programme, and there’ll be places on the team up for grabs – hit more for the details of how to get yourself hooked up.
Chill Factore’s new freestyle sponsorship programme will offer financial support and structured training to the most talented shredders. There’s going to be a pro team (which currently includes Col Mytton, Jordy Gee and John Weatherley) and a development team for up-and-coming talents. There’s a place on this development team up for grabs, riding alongside the likes of Tomski Robinson.
Judges will be picking out the most stylish shredder riding the slope on Friday 15th, and hooking him up not only with a year’s sponsorship from Chill Factore, but also with a whole load of new kit from Snow + Rock and Subvert Boardstore. Sound like the kind of thing you could get into? Then book yourself your cheap slope time and head down to the Trafford Centre slope on Friday 15th, cos it’s gonna get rad.
