Another new addition to the B’s Family Tree range, the Burton Working Stiff is a short-yet-formidable freeride snowboard that’s unlike anything else you’ll come across in 2017/18.

“Everything about the Burton Working Stiff is premium, from the high quality sintered base to the lightweight core and responsive triax fibreglass”

Everything about the Burton Working Stiff is premium, from the high quality sintered base to the lightweight core and responsive triax fibreglass. This is build for speed and stability, so those not up to the task should look elsewhere.

The directional tapered shape is a winner both on and off the piste. The long, rockered nose makes floating in deep pow is easier than the running length would suggest, and on piste the whole thing boosts out of turns with ease. The stiffness of the nose means that this punches well above its weight (or length, rather), but isn’t so rigid that you can’t have a cruise too.

Burton’s eco-credentials are boosted in the Working Stiff by the first use of ReRez. Exclusive to this board (for now at least), the process means that this board is essentially zero-waste, with all leftover materials finding new uses elsewhere.

It’s no all rounder, but the Burton Working Stiff meets the needs of even the most discerning freerider, in any conditions imaginable.

Tester’s Verdict

Tom Copseyonboardmag.com

“I asked for something weird-looking and surfy; I got something weird-looking and surfy. This new model from the B has a crazy construction which disguises some heavy core profiling – according to the rep it enables the nose to be beefed up to reduce flap and hack through crud better while keeping the tail playful.

“The one they gave me was seemingly tiny for my mucho macho frame, but none of this mattered in the Laax hot pow”

The one they gave me was seemingly tiny for my mucho macho frame, but none of this mattered in the Laax hot pow – the thing ploughed through all the chopped up crud on the hardpack, held an edge supremely, and once in pow it again defied its length limitations by floating serenely above the heavy new snow.

For people looking to fun shred the whole mountain and who don’t care much for the park, this is a cracking choice.”
