Burton US Open has yet again left us all amazed with what can be accomplished within snowboarding. Jamie Anderson’s slopestyle gold run, Scotty James’s final run that included the jaw-dropping switch backside double cork 1260 which earned him third place in the halfpipe finals, not to mention Dusty Henricksen’s final run in the men’s slopestyle finals.

“Burton US Open has yet again left us all amazed with what can be accomplished within snowboarding”

The 17-year-old American stomped a backside 1800 quad cork mute grab on the final kicker, a trick that earned the highest trick score of the day, and one that he had never even attempted prior to the comp, while casually riding in a t-shirt – yes Dusty, you effin’ legend!

“It was a super surreal feeling, nothing can beat that by a long shot.” – Dusty Henricksen.

This year’s US Open was also prone to some severe injuries. Norwegian style queen Silje Norendal broke her leg in three different places during the warmup laps, while Argentinan shredder Maca Taiz Valle took the gnarliest slam we’ve probably ever laid eyes on. Despite their unfortunate luck, we’re happy that both ladies are fine and handling their injuries like troopers.

“This is the gnarliest thing I ever saw in my life and it’s myself. Glad I’m still walking out alive of this one.” – Maca Taiz Valle.
