A bona fide modern classic, the Burton Flight Attendant has made a huge impact in its few short years on the market. Whenever the brand’s Family Tree range of freeride boards gets a shake-up, this one remains. Why? Because it’s excellent.

“The Burton Flight Attendant is just as fun to ride on the groomers as it is in the steep ‘n’ deep”

While its stablemate the Fish is more of a specialist pow board, the Burton Flight Attendant is just as fun to ride on the groomers as it is in the steep ‘n’ deep. Its tapered shape makes every turn a beauty, while the setback camber profile puts all power where you need it. Naturally that makes riding switch less appealing, but it’s a small price to pay for the feeling you get when you really open this up.

When you want to get it in the air, you won’t have much difficulty – the clue’s in the name. Despite the extended nose and tapered tail, the position of your feet in relation to the sidecut is similar to what it would be on a twin board. Approaching a jump feels extra comfortable, and a carbon rod delivers the pop when you’re ready for take-off.

It’s great in the powder too, of course. Ping off natural features when they’re loaded up after a dump, or you can just find a wide open face and lay down huge arcs at speed. The Burton Flight Attendant does both with aplomb.

Tester’s Verdict

Ed Blomfield – whitelines.com

“Stability is the name of the game here. The Flight Attendant feels nicely planted when riding in a straight line (you’ll soon be opening the throttle down the piste) while its wide nose and tail enable it to plough effortlessly through deep snow.

“This is one of those boards that fills you with confidence”

This is one of those boards that fills you with confidence. Landings are easy – it seems to absorb drops and never feels twitchy on the ride out – and while it was clearly most at home painting creative powder lines, it was comfortable enough in the park, offering good pop and playful butters. Without doubt, one of Burton’s best.”
