Best Snowboard Socks 2020-2021 | Our pick of the best snowboard socks to keep your feet warm

We've listed our favourite socks for you to nest your feet in this winter

It’s easy to neglect the importance of our feet and what they do for us. They keep us up all day and, even more importantly, it’s the part of our body that gets strapped into a snowboard – thus allowing us to ride in the first place. With that in mind, let’s look after our feet. Let’s make their comfort a priority.

“Choosing a pair of snowboard socks might not seem that big of a deal but trust us, it is”

Merino wool feels soft and nice against your skin. It’s also super lightweight, warm, and breathable. Most snowboard socks are made out of a mixture of different materials, but it might be worth spending a few extra quid on a pair of socks that include merino wool on their ingredients list.

Fit is another major factor when choosing the right snowboard socks as you want to avoid creating any uncomfortable pressure points within the boot. Make sure the socks won’t bunch up, and that you don’t constantly have to pull them up. Dedicated compression zones can stop this from happening. They can also enhance the blood flow to your feet and calves.

“Fit is another major factor when choosing the right snowboard socks as you want to avoid creating any uncomfortable pressure points within the boot”

When hiding your feet within a pair of snowboard boots all day, they’re bound to start sweating. To avoid a sweaty feeling inside the boots and the unpleasant odour that comes with it, we’d encourage you to invest in a pair of socks with wicking abilities and odour resistant properties (shoutout for merino wool again).

You really don’t want your feet soaking in their own sweat throughout the whole day as this’ll be an uncomfortable experience. Nor do you want to have to wash your snowboard socks on daily basis (we all ride in the same socks on consecutive days, no point in trying to deny it).

Of course, snowboard boots aren’t exactly the softest footwear out there (although softer than ski boots we’d wager). This makes extra padding on your socks that much more important. Whether this padding is on the shins, the toes or the arch it all adds to the comfort of your ride. And this, in turn, makes it easier to stay up on the hill for longer.

As a wise man once said, “keep your feet happy and they’ll keep you happy.”

    Burton Men’s AK Endurance Sock

    PRICE: N/A

Quoting Burton themselves, the Men’s AK Endurance Sock is apparently their ‘smartest snowboard sock’. This means it ranks pretty high up on the quality snowboard socks league table.

By adding copper yarns with odour fighting antimicrobial properties, and a quick-drying odour resistant reinforced footbed, Burton is able to offer up a sock that leaves your feet dry and smelling like roses (ok, maybe not roses but you get the idea).

The sock lock reinforcements also help to keep your heel from slipping inside the boot, while the elastic support of the sock increases blood flow. This will help to stop them getting tired and achy.

Available in both grey and blue, the AK Endurance Sock comes in every size between S and L.

    Smartwool PHD Snow Medium

    PRICE: $27

A Smartwool favourite, the PHD Medium Snow Sock has been retweaked for winter 20/21.

A new sock mesh pattern has been added on top of the foot here to help increase blood flow, to keep the toes warm. By increasing the power of the elastic around the arch area, Smartwool is also now able to offer a sock that offers a more locked-in fit. And finally, a new sock welt has been added, which means a wider elastic at the sock opening is there to help keep the sock up without cutting into the leg (and causing you discomfort).

The Medium model is the thickest in the PhD line.

Available for both ladies and gents alike, the socks come in a variety of cool designs including a Vans x Bryan Iguchi one that we’re particularly keen on. They can be bought in sizes S to L for women, going up to XL for the men.

The body-mapped mesh zones for added breathability together with the merino wool mishmash material will also make sure your feet won’t overheat when things start to get toasty.
