Best Park Snowboards 2019-2020

Chosen by the Whitelines Test Team

UPDATE: Check out our review of the Best Park and Freestyle Snowboards for 2020/2021 by clicking here.

What defines Park snowboarding? It’s hard to pin down, because there are so many sub-categories that live under that umbrella term. Are you a big old jib kid? Are you looking for a board to quad cork on? Do you only like riding half pipe? Freestyle snowboarding doesn’t even have to take place within the park ropes, street riding has long been the preference of some of the most prolific freestylers in the game.

As a general rule of thumb, a park board will be based around a true twin outline, so you can feel just as at home taking off or landing switch. It’ll also help to balance out the swing weight of the board, keeping you steadier when you’re throwing it around.

The profile of the board is completely dependent on your riding style. A positive camber profile will offer a more explosive pop for boosting off of kickers and gives more aggressive ride for riding and gripping in an icy pipe. The camber dominant profile can sometimes be a drawback if you’re a really playful jib kid, a bit of rocker in the nose and tail will mellow out the ride. You could even look towards a fully flat board which will give a real loose skate-style feeling.

The flex of your park snowboard is also super subjective. Stiffer boards will be more stable when you’re hitting bigger features and can help you to stomp those huge landings. A softer flex is generally the preference for those who love buttering and flatland. The softer board will also be a gentler introduction to those who’re newer to freestyle and don’t want a board that’s gonna kick their butt quite as much.

So, there’s no right answer to what makes a great park snowboard, it’s completely decided by your riding style. To give you a helping hand our Test Team put a whole bunch of boards to the test, and these were their top picks for get tricky.

Capita Super DOA Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £600/ €650

Though this board is capable of taming the whole mountain, its undisputed stomping ground is within the park ropes. Capita place positive camber between the feet keeping the board lively, aggressive and spring loaded, with longer flat sections that blend into rocker at the tip and tail. The result is all the pressing flatland versatility of its predecessor, but with added snap and crackle.

K2 Medium Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £470/ €530

The camber section acts as a springboard and offers a boost for when you’re wanting to ollie and jump about the place. The early rise rocker in the nose and tail make the board a little more mellow, while the slight lifts make the board a bit less catchy. A slightly stiffer flex underfoot makes the board a bit more responsive but not to the detriment of the overall softer flex.

Rome Agent Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £370/ €430

A bamboo rod is buried in the board at either end, starting between the inserts and heading out towards the tip and tail. These lil’ hotrods shoot power from underfoot outwards, so you can load up ollies and slashes without messing with the torsional stiffness. The blunted nose and tail are perfect for reducing swing weight as you’re locking down those spins and give the board a shorter running length whilst keeping the same effective edge.

Salomon Huck Knife Pro Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £470

The strong camber underneath the bindings provides the board with incredible strength. This is a poppy yet stable ride with the rocker at tip and tail playing its part too – you’ll find pressing on rails and boxes comfortable. The added Popster Boosters give the board an almost skateboard-ish feel, making your ollies feel more snappy.

Bataleon Disaster Snowboard 2019-2020

The nose and tail sections of the board are made up of a wide, flat, centre base, with just a slight lick of uplift on the side-bases. These increase more drastically at the contact points with the Sidekick. You can take on every feature in the park knowing it’s a board that has got your back – and won’t just put you onto it.

Bataleon Global Warmer Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £429/ €500

Carbon stringers running from edge to edge on either side of the inserts keep the response snappy between the heels and toes but also takes some of the sting out of those heavy landings or gaps to the metal. Additionally, there’s a hollow carbon tube running centrally between the inserts which helps bring that mellow camber to life a bit more.

Bataleon Wallie Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £389/ €460

It ticks all the boxes: a true twin shape; sturdy wooden core; soft flexing biax laminates and an extruded base as tough as an old boot. Boards of this nature take a regular beating, whichever way you send them into their target, but the Wallie was built to last. This is a proper, stand-out jib stick.

Burton Kilroy Twin Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £350 / €400

The Kilroy Twin allows you to twist and turn like a Russian ballerina, the blunted tip and tail reducing the overall volume of the board and keeping the swing weight low. With its core made out of a blend of both soft and hardwood, you’ll get a light board without having to compromise on strength or performance.

Burton Paramount Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £440/ €500

With its camber profile, true twin shape and soft flex, the Paramount is ideal for the park rats. The softer flex makes it ideal for getting those presses down, and a slight transfer of weight means you can transfer those flatland skills to rails and boxes.

DC Ply Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £370/ €420

A versatile board with a freestyle bias, the PLY is a nice intermediate deck with a penchant for fun and games. Biax fibreglass gives the board a playful flex that’s perfect for chomping sidehits and forgiving enough to give you a helping hand when you’re trying to lock in new tricks.

Endeavor BOD Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £499

The 3D camber is a full tip to tail camber, but the contact points have been slightly scooped up, to give a very subtle “spoon” shape in the nose and tail. This offers the best of both worlds. You get a snappy, powerful feel and all the rebound normally associated with traditional camber with a more forgiving feel at the ends that doesn’t compromise the overall pop.

Gnu Riders Choice Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £510/ €570

The Riders Choice uses Gnu’s C2X profile, which features a shorter rockered section between the feet to keep the board more surfy. Outside of this, it has longer and more aggressive cambered sections outwards running to the tip and tail. The Camber keeps the board feeling lively and dynamic and improves grip by loading pressure towards the nose and tail.

Good Novum Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: €559

The Novum has the characteristic freestyle shape and profile – a true twin with a camrock profile – but the outline looks like just about nothing else out there on the market. The extra width underfoot will keep the Novum stable when stomping bigger landings in the park. Triax fibreglas and a dual wood core keep the board stable and responsive, while carbon and Kevlar stringers will add pop into the ends of the board and keep some of the chatter at bay.

Jones Aviator Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £535/ €600

Out of all the Jones lineup, the Aviator is the most at home going switch. That’s partly down to the 3D contours in the base of nose and tail, which loosen up the contact points just enough to prevent the deadliest hookups. Given its name, there are no surprises this one’s performance is tailored to the air. The takeoff and landing gears are equally impressive.

Lib Tech Titty Fish Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £520/ €580

This year the Titty Fish has lost the crescent-cutaway nose in favour of a more twin-styled shape at either end, so it gives bumps up the freestyle characteristics without detracting from any of its freeride performance.

Lobster Eiki Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £399/ €460

It’s one of the softest boards on the market and it’s perfect for getting those flatland tricks down and for effortless pressing and buttering around. The Wallie tips are blunted for reduced swing weight and rounded up to give you a little more leeway as you’re boosting it off hard features. Ideal for park rats, stuntin’ in the streets and buttery madness.

Top

Lobster Halldor Pro Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £429/ €490

It’s end to end full camber, so you’ve got bags of dynamic pop, the board is full of life and wants to jump and thrash around. To rid itself of the hang ups of a traditional cambered board it features Twin 3BT- a semi-wide flat centrebase with uplifted edges outside the bindings. 3BT is gonna help save your ass when you have a sketchy landing, so feel free to start trying bigger spins and crazier tricks.

Lobster Shifter Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £349/ €400

Built for destroying park, jib and street features, it’s a soft flexing, playful weapon of mad destruction. The ‘Flex Walls’ are urethane infused sidewalls to absorb some vibrations and to act as mini dampeners for those hefty landings. The base may not be the fastest on the market, but it’s tough as hell, easy to repair for when you session that rail over and over and pretty low maintenance.

Rome Buckshot Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £475/ €500

Top

Rome Gang Plank Snowboard 2019-2020

PRICE: £420/ €480

A bamboo rod runs outwards towards the tip between each set of inserts, this rod packs the board with the pop it might have lost by eschewing a camber profile. It does this without adding weight, or increasing the stiffness of the board, so it stays mellow and playful but now has an explosive nose and tail.

Salomon Huck Knife Snowboard 2019-2020
